Symposium „New Trends in Materials Science and Technology for Sustainability and Circular Economy“
From 8–10 December, an interdisciplinary symposium was held at Saarland University, highlighting the key role of materials and technologies in the context of sustainability and the circular economy.
🧩 Poster Session
Dr.-Ing. Flavio Soldera and Dr.-Ing. Agustina Guitar presented the UniGR-CIRKLA project and its diverse activities aimed at establishing a competence center for the circular economy.
🔄 A key focus of the project is the characterisation and tracking of material flows across the Greater Region, from their use in industrial facilities to cross-border solutions for recycling and material recovery.
💡 Latest Insights from Materials Research
Agustina Guitar also shared exciting insights into a recent study conducted by the Chair of Functional Materials at Saarland University: “A Green Approach to Achieve Extended Lubricity of Tribological Systems: Carbon Nanoparticles as a Case Study” (Agustina Guitar, Sebastian Suarez, Prof. Frank Mücklich).
✨ It was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge on the resource-efficient use of materials and discuss new approaches to support the transition towards a circular economy.
